WHAT ARE FIRE CLAY AND HIGH ALUMINA BRICKS?

Fire Clay Bricks:
Axim’s fire clay bricks possess mechanical strength and can withstand extreme thermal cycling and thermal shock. They also have a high thermal mass, allowing them to retain heat and deliver excellent energy efficiency.

These bricks are manufactured by firing a clay-based composition until partly vitrified. For specialist applications, they can also feature a glazed finish. Typically, they contain 40–50% alumina, depending on the maximum operating temperatures.

High Alumina Bricks:
Axim’s high alumina bricks are produced with selected bauxite chamotte as main raw material, fired at 1450-1470℃ by advanced process with strict quality control.

High alumina bricks have great features like high temperature performance, great corrosion and wear resistance, high bulk density, low iron content, etc.

APPLICATIONS

Axim Mica’s Fire Clay and High Alumina Bricks are durable and heat-resistant, engineered to meet the demands of high-temperature applications across industries such as:

Industrial Heating

Resist extreme heat and thermal shock in kilns, ovens, and furnaces, supporting stable, efficient operation in metal, glass, and ceramic production.

Utility
Infrastructure

Protect boiler and incinerator linings from high temperatures and wear, ensuring safe and efficient system performance.

Residential & Commercial Heating

Provide durable, heat-retaining structures for fireplaces and chimneys, enhancing efficiency and lifespan.

With their high heat resistance and durability, fire clay and high alumina bricks are essential in industries that rely on extreme temperatures. They provide stable, long-lasting insulation in kilns, furnaces, and ovens used in ceramics, glass, and metalworking, ensuring consistent heat management and structural integrity.

Their thermal shock resistance makes them ideal for boiler linings, incinerators, and hot blast stoves—where they protect equipment and improve energy efficiency. Even in fireplaces and chimneys, these bricks offer lasting heat retention and reliability.

Trusted across heavy industry and heating systems, they perform where it matters most.

TYPES OF FIRE CLAY BRICKS

The following are the common types of fire clay bricks you can use for your projects:

  • Standard: These are the quintessential choice for most construction and industrial applications, providing solid thermal stability and resistance to moderate temperatures. Ideal for general use in kilns, furnaces, and fireplaces.
  • High-Duty: Specially formulated with an enhanced alumina content, these bricks are designed for increased mechanical and thermal resistance. Perfect for more demanding environments, where they face higher temperatures and more severe thermal cycling.
  • Glazed: A unique option where aesthetics meet functionality. These bricks have a vitrified surface layer, offering not only an appealing finish but also added resistance against chemical attacks and easier cleaning.
  • Low Porosity: Engineered for environments requiring minimal moisture absorption and high density, these bricks boast reduced porosity. This makes them suitable for use in settings where superior mechanical strength and lower thermal conductivity are paramount.

BENEFITS & ADVANTAGES

When it comes to refractory solutions, Axim Mica’s Fire Clay and High Alumina Bricks stand unfazed under extreme heat. Here’s how these robust materials can elevate your project’s performance and efficiency:

  • Superior Durability: Both bricks offer strong mechanical resistance, standing up to wear, erosion, and harsh conditions.
  • High-Temperature Performance: Fire clay bricks handle high heat well, while high alumina bricks excel in extreme temperatures, maintaining structural strength.
  • Thermal Shock Resistance: Both bricks tolerate rapid temperature changes, with high alumina bricks providing enhanced resistance for cyclic heat exposure.
  • Chemical Stability: Fire clay bricks resist chemical attacks, and high alumina bricks withstand acidic and basic slags, protecting structures in corrosive environments.
  • Energy Efficiency & Versatility: Fire clay bricks retain and distribute heat effectively, while high alumina bricks minimize heat loss, making both suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.
