WHAT IS A MICA GASKET?

A mica gasket is a high-temperature and chemically resistant sealant made from mica sheets, used in industrial applications to prevent leaks and provide insulation between stationary components.

Our AX-Gaskets are lightweight with ultra-high thermal resistance, making these the #1 choice across numerous industries. They have great flexibility and elasticity, and can withstand extreme pressure, making these a popular choice in industrial settings.

Ax-Gasket Muscovite & Phlogopite mica gaskets and seals

APPLICATIONS

Our Ax-Gaskets can be used in a variety of applications, including:

High-Voltage Cabins

Acts as a mechanical support and electrical insulator.

Forging Machines & Hydraulic Presses

Replacement for asbestos panels.

Automotive

Used in exhaust manifolds.

Ax-Gaskets are used as supports for heating resistors, provides thermal insulation in circuit breakers and between electronic components, can be filler for spiral wound gaskets or as material in cam profile gaskets, and can be found in fuel cells, gas turbines, and turbo generators.

In large thicknesses, AX-Gasket can also be used as a thermal insulator for industries with large stress, such as iron and steels works, chemical, glass, and petrol-chemical industries.

Durability: suitable for high-pressure environments.

Ax-Gaskets can be made from a variety of sheets and rolls.

Sheets:

  • Thickness: 0.1mm – 3.0mm
  • Width: 1000mm
  • Length: max. 2400mm

**Customized strips or punched parts can be made upon request**

Rolls:

  • Thickness: 0.1mm – 0.25mm
  • Width: 500mm or 1000mm
  • Length: max. 300mm

HOW AX-GASKETS ARE MADE

  1. Mica Paper Creation: Axim sources high grade Phlogopite mica, which gives the gaskets its thermal characteristics and resistance to harsh chemicals.
  2. Impregnation: The mica paper is then impregnated with a silicone binder to enhance durability and flexibility.
  3. Cutting & Shaping: After impregnation, the material is cut and shaped into seals and gaskets, designed to withstand extreme conditions.

FAQs

A mica gasket is a high-temperature and chemically resistant sealant made from mica sheets, used in industrial applications to prevent leaks and provide insulation between stationary components.

Seals are designed for dynamic systems where movement occurs, while gaskets are used between stationary parts to prevent leakage, primarily under compression.

The three main types are metallic, semi-metallic, and non-metallic gaskets, each suiting different pressure, temperature, and chemical conditions.

Mica gaskets have excellent compression characteristics, allowing them to maintain integrity and provide effective sealing under various pressure conditions without significant degradation or loss in performance.
